Upcoming Opportunities

NYSPHA membership: register NOW!

The Graduate Student Government Association is delighted to share with the student body that we will be securing NYSPHA membership for 25 CUNY SPH students. Please fill out the short survey if you are interested in becoming a NYSPHA member by Thursday, February 24, 2022. Selection of members will be determined on a first-come, first-served basis. The membership will be for one year from date of purchase by the GSGA. You can access the survey here.

CUNY CLASH: Cash Prizes for CUNY Students!

Enter your idea for a chance to win $35K in cash prizes. CUNY CLASH is a brand new competition where current CUNY students come together with ideas to tackle and solve all sorts of problems both big and small! It is open to all CUNY students from all majors. This is not a startup competitionit is an ideas competitionIt’s very easy to enter. All you need to do is record a 60 sec – 90 sec video from your phone talking about your idea and fill out a form. That’s it. You should be able to do it all in less than 10 minutes. The deadline is March 9, 2022 and you can enter here.

Urban Food Policy Forum

Thursday, February 24  |  10:30 am – 12:00 pm  |  RSVP

The topic of this forum is Food Is Medicine, focusing on the policies to replicate, scale, and finance food as medicine programs, from medically-tailored meals to prescription produce programs. On February 24, join the CUNY Urban Food Policy Institute and guest practitioners and policy experts to learn more about the most recent developments in this rapidly growing field of research, policy, and practice.

I ❤️ Public Health Month

Each February, the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH) celebrates I ❤️ Public Health Month to highlight the variety of important, global roles of public health. Throughout the month, ASPPH will be posting pictures, videos, quotes, and stories from This is Public Health (TIPH) Ambassadors sharing why they are passionate about the field.

Join ASPPH February 1-28 to promote public health by participating in the I ❤️ Public Health Month. Visit the TIPH logo license page under “Download the TIPH logos” to access the I ❤️ Public Health frame and join in the discussion by sharing why public health is meaningful to you, what brought you to the field, or how your work impacts the health of others. ASPPH will be sharing some of the favorite posts throughout the month.

You can also take part in the conversation by using #I❤️PublicHealth on Instagram and #ThisIsPublicHealth on all social media platforms.


Afrofuturism by Carnegie Hall

This month, Carnegie Hall is kicking off a citywide festival on the theme of Afrofuturism, an ever-expansive aesthetic and practice—where music, visual arts, science fiction, and technology intersect to imagine alternate realities and a liberated future viewed through the lens of Black cultures.There are $10 student tickets available for many of the festival events. You can also take advantage of the student discounts available on the website. To take advantage of these student discounts, you can sign up for the Student Insider program on the website – registration is fast and free!


Crash Course on Black American History

During Black History month, this crash course on Black American History, over the course of 50 episodes, provides an opportunity to learn about the experience of Black people in America, from the arrival of the first enslaved Black people who arrived at Jamestown all the way to the Black Lives Matter movement. It is comprehensive, concise, and accessible. Make sure to check it out!

ASPPH 2022 Annual Meeting
March 22-24  |  Arlington, VA & online sessions available  |  Register

The Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health is hosting their 2022 Annual Meeting March 22-24. This event convenes academic public health leaders, faculty, students, and members of the public health community from around the world for three days in March to engage in discussions and share new strategies and tools to strengthen education, practice, and research in public health. This year, we are excited to offer two attendance options, in-person (Arlington, VA) and online. Join us to learn the latest about every facet of academic public health and bring data-driven insights back to your campus.

Town Hall: Enhancing an LGBTQIA+ Affirming and Supportive Campus at CUNY SPH

Counseling and Wellness Services is dedicated to offering LGBTQIA+ affirming counseling and promoting the growth of LGBTQIA+ services at CUNY SPH. Students, alumni, faculty and staff are invited to this town hall to engage in conversation about how to foster such growth at our campus.
