Be Positive, Think Positive!


Hi SPH students!

This week we want to share with you that the GSGA nominations have been extended to Friday April 24 at 12:00AM. We are looking for students interested in the Doctoral Senator and Masters Senator position. Voting will then take place from May 11 to May 22. Also the University Student Senate (USS) Scholarship is now up on CUNYFirst. Please see the flyer below for more information!

Petition for CUNY to divest from fossil fuels

Sign the petition to remind our Chancellor and Trustees that we haven’t forgotten the dramatic struggle that must resume when the current crisis passes. CUNY’s administration already has the power to divest from fossil fuels, conserve energy to reduce carbon emissions, eliminate single use plastics and MOVE TOWARD 100% RENEWABLE ENERGY.

Representatives from the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) will be hosting this virtual event. HRTP: A Public Health Internship Program is open to undergraduate, graduate and professional school students of public health, health education, laboratory sciences, medicine, social work, environmental engineering, public administration, accounting, mathematics, computer science, law, nursing, the social sciences, and many other majors. HRTP offers dynamic internships in public health research, community health outreach and education, fieldwork, laboratory work and public health administration.

Public Health Partnership Conference

Are you passionate about public health issues? Do you have an interesting paper, project or research study to share? If you answered yes, then you should apply for the 2021 student poster competition!

Accepting student poster abstracts for presentations on the following topic areas:

  • Air (tobacco, asthma, climate change.)
  • Water (drinking water, emerging contaminants, HABs, sugar-sweetened beverages)
  • Food (insecurity, breastfeeding, food safety and sourcing)
  • Housing/Built Environment (lead, walkable communities, complete streets)
  • Environmental Health- Innovations in Policy & Practice

1) Submit a project to be hacked over the course of the weekend
2) Help move forward a proposal submitted by others
3) Volunteer to help this event be successful
