We hope you had a great weekend! There are many professional development opportunities happening in April. On April 8-9, the APHA Policy Action Institute is hosting a conference on topics such as health equity, COVID-19, climate change, the federal health agendas, and how to effectively communicate across party lines. If you are interested in attending, the information is below. Also, we want to remind you that if you are paying for this conference you may also qualify for reimbursement here.

Scholarships

Dr. Anthony S. Fauci Scholarship | Deadline: April 1, 2021 | Apply here

We are pleased to announce that the Dr. Anthony S. Fauci Scholarship application is now open! 2021 marks the first year of CCF’s new Dr. Anthony S. Fauci Scholarship. The Foundation will award the first $25,000 Annual Scholarship to Italian American Students who exemplify the values and determination of Dr. Fauci. The scholarship will support Italian Americans with great academic prowess seeking financial aid at the graduate level in medical and public health fields of study.

Healthy CUNY is now on Instagram @healthycuny!  Check out the information they are sharing with CUNY students as well as the food advocates who are promoting the SNAP campaign on various CUNY campuses such as Lehman College, LaGuardia CC, Brooklyn College, and Medgar Evers! NOT SO FUN FACT: Did you know CUNY still invests in fossil fuels?

The CUNY Climate Coalition meets bi-weekly via ZOOM Thursdays at 4:15pm. In this past year, we have worked on plastics reduction and composting, divestment from fossil fuels, and other environmental issues.

Town Hall for CUNY Trans Students | April 14 | 6pm-8pm | RSVP Here

The NYC Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) and Nicholas Cevoli, Brooklyn College LGBTQ Community Intern are pleased to co-host the Trans CUNY Student Town Hall. It will be a discussion of student experiences, human rights law, and next steps for CUNY accountability to comply with NYC laws.

The event is co-sponsored by the National Women’s Studies Association (NWSA)and the Center for LGTBQ Studies (CLAGS).

Student Emergency Funds 

If you are a current CUNY SPH student-facing short-term financial hardship, we encourage you to submit an application to the Student Emergency Fund.

To access the application, you will need to log into SharePoint using your SPH login (sph\______) credentials.  Reach out to the HelpDesk@sph.cuny.edu if you require assistance with SharePoint.
