To our graduating students: congratulations on this remarkable achievement! Earning your degree is more than an academic milestone, it’s a testament to your courage and determination to make the world a better, more equitable, and healthier place. As you move into this next chapter, know that you carry the knowledge and the heart to lead lasting change. Keep shining, keep fighting for justice, and never forget the power of your purpose.

Career Discovery Series with Dr. Harlem Gunness and Dr. Jerry Zee

Join the CUNY SPH Office of Career Services for an enlightening panel event featuring two highly decorated professionals in the public health field – Dr. Harlem J. Gunness, PhD, MPH and Dr. Jerry Zee, PharmD, MPH, CPH, PMP, ITIL. As alumni of Hunter College School of Public Health, Dr. Gunness and Dr. Zee have both dedicated over 20 years to the advancement of public health in various capacities. Whether you are a current public health student, alum, early career professional, or simply interested in learning more about the field, this is a great opportunity to gain valuable insight into the skills, experiences, and achievements of our panelists. The event is free, will take place on Zoom, and registration is available via Eventbrite. It’s open to CUNY SPH students and alumni, CUNY SPH faculty and staff, students from other public health schools, and more.
We’re seeking a Communications Officer!
The GSGA is seeking a Communications Officer for the 2025 – 2026 school year!
In this role, you will be required to collaborate with the GSGA President, Vice President, and Treasurer, to ensure the mission and vision of the organization are foremost while keeping students up to date with timely matters, managing the GSGA email, website, and social media accounts, and most importantly, preparing and sending out the GSGA newsletter. As a member of the Executive Council the Communications Officer will also assign tasks to the GSGA to support us in executing the duties of their role, attend GSGA meetings, assist in editing the website and keeping the calendar up to date with upcoming programs that the GSGA and student clubs plan to host.
The above will be your main duties, but you may be tasked with other assignments depending on what is needed to ensure students are kept abreast and have timely communications.
There is not a set number of hours that will be required per month, but you can expect to dedicate between 3 – 6 hours per week depending on the various meetings we have and tasks that are assigned to you. It is expected that the communications officer will ensure they fulfill their duties to the student body.
This position does not have an hourly wage, but officers will receive a stipend of $600/semester at the end of each of the fall and spring semesters.

NYS Open Meetings Law
Pursuant to the New York State Open Meetings Law, SPH students and members of the public have the right to attend meetings of the Graduate Student Government Association.
Should you like to attend this meeting and observe, you may do so. Our meetings are currently being held virtually on Fridays at 7pm, so if you would like to sit in on one of these meetings send an email to [email protected] at least 24 hours before the time of the meeting and we will send the Zoom link.
